A new worm, called "Zindos", is launching a denial of service attack against Microsoft's website today. Zindos is using a fleet of infected machines caused by the recent variant of the MyDoom virus.

Zindos works by sending a flood of information in an attempt to stifle legitimate traffic to the site, in hopes of bringing the site down. The virus doesn't take advantage of the holes in the software; rather, an email with the virus attached must be opened in order to release it.

This past Monday, MyDoom attacked some of the major search engines and brought down a number of them. Most notable being Google, which MyDoom used to harvest email addresses.

Microsoft's website is no stranger to malicious attempts to bring them down. Last August a virus by the name of "SoBIG" threatened Microsoft so much, that they pulled their Windows Update address from the Internet, according to silicon.com.
