Russian Internet Portals To Offer Email With Unlimited Storage

Russian Internet portals Yandex.ru and Mail.ru have announced they will be launching email services that will have unlimited storage for its members. Each company will be offering their email services for free.

According to MosNews.com, the email accounts will not start with infinite space. Members will be allocated 25mb worth of storage when the account is started. When this space is filled, the companies will give users the option of expanding "the account by an additional 25 (Mail.ru) or 20 (Yandex.ru) megabytes."
Mail.ru conducted a test run with their new service, and when asked, only 11% of the users elected to expand their storage. According to Mail.ru's Anna Artamonova, email storage will not automatically update when full. Users will be given reminders that their storage needs to be expanded.

It looks as if Gmail has already revolutionized email storage just by mentioning the 1 gig capacity users will have, all before the official launch. This marks the third and fourth companies to announce larger storage for email account users. Spymac and Walla.com have begun offering 1 gig worth of storage for its members.
