I just launched a website, and I am having difficulty getting people to this site. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on how to help me with it.
How to Get People to the Site
The site is at http://www.adposter.net

I sometimes wonder if this business is even viable nowadays, because I just took so much time and effort, and now it's slow.

Thank you for the suggestions... Read Replies

Review www.whoareyou.de Online 3D Chat Community

We've started our project ... and we really need some reviews from experienced people :)

There's only one disadvantage: the page is on German, so if you do'nt understand it, simply say something about design, or the kind of content you can understand...

Adding New Keywords

I am at a loss here and have been banging my head for 3 months now. My site has the most unbelievably slow loading pages. I am losing members and customers over this... I rank in the 14% for speed on Alexa. Some people have timed 12 minutes load times on dial up.

We just switched over to this server (tpchost) and uploaded our site onto monster commerce software. We have 2 java applets on the front page, 1 is in the top section shown on every page. But the speed issue is on every single page on our site, even ones with out the javas, and on the software system side as well...

S o my question is, what can I do to find out where the problems lies? Read Replies

Fraud Through eBay!

The other day I had a new client sign up for a hosting account. This person had 'eBay' within their domain name. I thought it was a bit weird, but figured it was a hard-core Ebay seller or something.
Beware of eBay Fraud

Well, last night we received a call from someone that received an email that traced back to us. (see below) We found out after that the domain didn't even exist and this person was using our Ip address to link to, like this: 123.123.123.123~ebay/

Of course, we immediately suspended the account. Here's an excerpt...

To all: Please Beware!! We are investigating. To all web hosts: Ever had something like this happen? If so, what did you do about it or how did you handle it? Read Replies

Ecommerce Gets an Evaluation

Many Internet users shop online to save time and money, but a collaborative study from the Business Internet Group of San Francisco (BIG-SF) and TeaLeaf Technology designed to evaluate the performance of leading e-commerce sites found that Web application failures caused consumers to lose time and e-tailers to lose money.

The report revealed undetected Web site errors on 10 of the 16 sites (62.5 percent) that were evaluated, resulting in an average of $278 in lost revenue per transaction. Consumers typically spent 7 minutes on these error-filled sites, hoping to navigate their way through the transaction... Read Replies

Meta Tags - A Final Answer?

I am hearing and reading conflicting information on which meta tags really matter to search engines. I also occasionally find what I think are "non-standard" meta tags. I even spoke with a self proclaimed "SEO Master" who suggested that if all of the following tags are not used, then "your meta tags are bad." Meta Tags - A Final Answer?

So, can someone provide a definitive answer as to what currently is recommended? Are all of these nesessary? Does the < meta http-equiv'="title" content="" > offer another way to identify your keywords to the all-important (non-meta tag) < title >< / title >?

Are the multiple "descriptions" below useful? ... Read Replies

"'And now,' as Paul Harvey would say, 'for the rest of the story...'

Opera 7.x does support CSS scrollbar color property declarations, but it's not enabled by default, nor is the setting available through the UI. The user has to manually add a line to the Opera6.ini file.

I may be a bit biased, because as a matter of course the second grouping of CSS property declarations after BODY on any stylesheet we produce consists of eight lines defining the properties of the scrollbars, but it's all good, and we do it because it can be done..."

Use the Right Approach to Creativity

Post:

I am trying to learn Flash at the moment and have now realised where I have gone wrong. I am trying to use Flash to imagine and create something when what I should be doing is creating it in my head, then using the tools within Flash, which I have learned to use, to make that happen on the screen.

This will hopefully help my progress, as it has been slow so far. I am just learning it to use for fun as opposed to work, but it is still clogging along....
